Welcome To Our Cape Cod Organic Farm Stand At Hawk’s Wing Farm

What Is The Cape Cod Organic Farm Stand at Hawk’s Wing Farm ?

The Cape Cod Organic Farm Stand at Hawk’s Wing Farm is our own little Organic Farm Stand Store. The parking’s free, the fresh air’s free, the petting zoo’s free and the coffee’s free!  Offering 100% local, regional and East-Coast Food Shed -Naturally grown produce, our Farm Stand directly supports us and local farms and the local economy.

We provide extremely fresh produce at the better than Trader Joe prices, and we’re pioneering a unique farm-based distribution system. This winter, join us in forgoing the air-shipped produce from all corners of the globe. Why buy from Chile, Mexico, or California, when it’s all right here in our Farm Stand foodshed?

In addition to our own farm-grown vegetables, you’ll find:

  • Apple, Peaches, Pears, blueberries, strawberries
  • Local maple syrup, honey, Organic ice cream, jams and soaps
  • Local ground beef, bacon, eggs, and cheese
  • Western- Eastern Mass-grown onions, potatoes, root crops, and winter squash
  • East-Coast / Food Shed citrus, avocados, beans, greens, tomatoes, peppers, and more
  • Our cider is one of our key note products. Still un pasteurized, we produce a cider that is as flavorful, fruity and aromatic as any you have ever tasted. It is simply in a class of its own.

Our Organic Farm Stand Mission

Our mission is simple. Through the farmshare program, we seek to improve the viability of American farms, farm families, farm communities and the customers who support them. In doing so, we endeavor to preserve our natural heritage by protecting farmland and the environment, while empowering people in the process.

When you buy with us or join our CSA Farmshare, you support our sister farms and a community of folks who are dedicated to actualizing a regional “foodshed” that sustains both farms and the community all year long.

By joining our farmshare, you are joining a grassroots movement of people dedicated to changing our food distribution system so that people of all walks of life can eat fresh, local, and healthy.

Food Justice

Our goal is a more sustainable food system. We’re accomplishing this goal by decreasing the distances that food travels before it arrives on your plate. By forging relationships with organic farms up and down the East Coast – our regional “foodshed” – we’re able to bring their produce directly to our customers in Massachusetts.

The concept of a foodshed is akin to that of a watershed. It describes the geographic area that food travels, from the land where it is grown, all the way to the people that it ultimately nourishes. The average American meal contains components that have travelled thousands of miles — obviously an unsustainable system. We ended up with this system because it proved the cheapest possible model for huge grocery store chains and their distributors.

Our East Coast Foodshed model not only cuts the distance that food travels by sourcing from farms that are geographically closer to us (Florida is the furthest that we go to source our produce), but also decreases the time food travels in trucks and sits in refrigerators. Cutting out the food distributors, which often truck your food thousands of miles from distribution center to distribution center, provides you with you fresher produce from farms closer to home.

Food sourced from within our regional foodshed cuts down on the miles your food travels, increases the year-round viability of small organic farms in our region, and sustains those farms that we hope will continue to feed us as we decrease our reliance on the industrial food system.

What We Sell

You do not need to be a member of our CSA or Grocery Co-op to shop at our farmstand. We are open to the public 7 days a week Monday through Sundays from 9am – 6pm.

Check the Directions and Hours tab for more information on seasonal hours.

In the center of our farmstand is our wonderful produce. In the summer, we sell mostly our own organic vegetables. We do purchase other fruit and vegetables to supplement what comes in from our fields. We source our produce as locally as we can. This sometimes means that it is not organic but naturally grown. Our corn, for example, comes from SE Mass. Organic corn is not available locally and so we choose to buy from a local trusted farmer. Other items like bananas and avocadoes come from far away, but we source fair trade, organically grown items if they are not a local product.

We have local cheeses. Our cooler is filled each week with rotating food items based on what’s fresh on the farm. Our soups are made with broth from scratch and as nourishing as your great grandmother used to make. We take pride in using only real ingredients, and none of our kitchen items are made from a mix. There are no preservatives and no chemicals; just whole and pure farm food.

Our grocery items are mostly from small, local companies. We work with small-scale distributors to carry artisinal products that are not easily found in grocery stores. We strive to avoid corn syrup, artificial colors, artificial sweetners and preservatives. Many items are gluten and wheat free. We are always looking for new and unique products to carry in the farmstand, so if there’s something you love, feel free to suggest a product.

Our dairy cooler is full of local and organic raw milk cheeses, local milk, lacto-fermented vegetables, and beverages without corn syrup.

In our freezers, you’ll find our own pasture raised meat and poultry when available, plus grass-fed beef and sustainably caught seafood. We also have all natural frozen pizza dough, sprouted breads and delicious organic gelato.

Other items you’ll find include:

  • Gifts and books for kids
  • Cookbooks and other books on  natural food
  • All natural home cleaning products
  • Locally produced beeswax candles
  • Natural soap and lotions made locally
  • Farm T-shirts, sweatshirts and reusable shopping bags
  • Seasonal products include seeds, our own organic seedlings, soil, outdoor plants, wreaths and more.
